EUROPEAN CHILD’S RING, 15TH-17TH CENTURY AD

$85.00

Late Gothic to Renaissance. Gilt bronze, size sub 1 for an infant to toddler. Circular bezel with quatrefoil motif, probably a reference to the cross and saltire (cross of St. Andrew) and a baptismal or Christening ring. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.30. During the period, rings for children were a luxury suggesting that the owner was of the noble class. Professionally refurbished with gold overlay for modern wear.
