Large example, just over 2 7/8” (2.91”) height of native base silver with characteristic quaint charm. Central cross divided into five pierced panels representing the five wounds of Christ. The beam terminals with diamonds inscribed with double line saltires (cross of St. Andrew).  Christianity in Ethiopia is traceable to the first century, the time of Christ, and the persecution of Christians. The New Testament (Acts 8:26-36) records Philip the Evangelist’s conversion of an Ethiopian court official in the first century.  Wonderful genuine age character, with some wear. Suspended from an 18” modern sterling silver mounted black leather neck cord. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
