The collection was formed in the late 19th century and circulated in England on “Mission Sunday” to illustrate the lifestyle of African “savages” and raise funds for the missions. Forged iron, 21 length with medially ridged leaf shaped point and thickened edge opened seam conical socket pierced for a securing pin. This is a war spear. At the time, the sole purpose of tribal war in Africa was the capture of slaves for export.
