CIVIL WAR HORSE BIT GETTYSBURG

$155.00

Purchased around 1970 from one of the relic shacks adjoining the battlefield. 4 piece snaffle bit, 13” extended. Non regulation and probably Confederate. For a century after the battle, locals found massive amounts of relics which were of little interest until the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 laid the groundwork for the Interstate Highway System. As the system developed, so did tourism. Many locals built small wood stands, much like the fruit and vegetable stands on today’s rural farms, and sold the relics to tourists. We purchased as much as we were able to and have been selling them since.
