Standard pattern. See The American Sword, Peterson, #73.  Brass hilt with pierced foliage guard retaining considerable original gold surface and wire wrapped spirally fluted ray skin grip. 30 1/8” slightly curved broad and narrow fullered blade with false edge, decorated with foliage, US, eagle and weapons trophies. The ricasso with Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee Mass. Good clean example with fine age character. This pattern evolved with the specific goal of producing a substantial fighting sword, which it is.
