CELTIC PROSPERITY INGOT NECKLACE, C.400-100

$130.00
Before the Roman invasion of the British Isles, rings of bronze, silver, and gold were used as a means of exchange, particularly in Ireland. Rarely, variants, like lugged rings or these arrowhead-shaped ingots were used. Based on their rarity, archaeologists have concluded that they were used for special purposes only, perhaps as votives by Druids or bride prices. This is a rare variant possibly imitating an arrowhead. It is just under 1” in length, surface textured from burial, and professionally refurbished and silvered. On an 18” modern Sterling silver neck chain for everyday wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
