CARIBBEAN PIRATE'S OR SAILOR'S FOLDING KNIFE

$115.00

17th-18th century of distinct English form. 3 3/4” length with wedge section sharply curved pointed blade. The base pierced for the pivot pin. Dating to the period of rampant piracy in the Caribbean. As sailors on naval ships and merchantmen were prohibited from carrying pointed knives, this example was likely carried by a pirate, many of which were English. Purchased in Fort Myers in the 1980s and recovered from the Gulf.
