Fine quality particularly early examples from the reign of William IV, evidently the first use of this pattern. Gilt hilt with crown form pommel and pierced WR cipher to the guard. Fine wire wrapped grip. See British Cut and Thrust Weapons, Wilkinson, fig.54a for this pattern. Hilt with nearly all original bright gold overlay and original blade seat. Blade shows gray patina with scattered oxidation. We found no other examples on the internet including auction results.
