These globular pendants were popular among common women in ancient Rome, sometimes described as prostitute’s pendants a view that is widely published on the internet. This example is large for these, 17.0mm, over 5/8” width of tear form with the lower 2/3 finely decorated with alternate bands of double ribs flanking foliate sprigs or tendrils. It has been professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored. It is suspended on an 18” Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear and is gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
